I was commissioned by Brandon Consultants to help create the wordmark and monogram for Herblabism, a Manchester-based start-up specialising in meat-free products.
Herblabism are all about bringing humanity back into harmony with nature through ecological thinking and design. They embrace natural systems, ingredients and processing techniques that work to restore balance, while creating great-tasting food with health benefits for all.
Several approaches were explored for the monogram which were based around two key concepts: Firstly, harmony with nature and plant-based food; and secondly Herblabism’s approach of creating regenerative farming systems and giving back to nature as much as possible.
Building on the monogram, the wordmark also needed to reflect these concepts. Again, several approaches were considered, exploring varying degrees of organic shapes to form a contemporary, fully bespoke serif wordmark. The stems of the ‘l’+’b’ are adjusted to support the monogram in its central position.
