Lettering piece created for my Domestika course – ‘Expressive Lettering with Swashes and Flourishes’ – to demonstrate that swashes and flourishes are not just limited to scripts. Created from start to finish in Procreate.
Once the letterforms were in place, several approaches to the flourishing were explored. Each of these could work well, in terms of structure and composition. However, I wanted to explore something that felt a little less typical compositionally. This led me to the design below…
Iterations leading up to the final design. Once the composition is finalised (image 4), a higher resolution file is created for sketching the final artwork (image 5).
Still in Procreate, colours and texture are added to give depth and dimension to the final piece. The different colours were inspired by the seasons.
The complete start-to-finish process is explained in detail in my Domestika course. See the link below to find out more about the course and to sign up.
This will soon be available as a limited edition Giclée print. Click the button below to sign up to my newsletter and be notified when the prints are available.
