I was delighted to be commissioned by Pearlfisher to help craft the wordmark as part of their global rebrand for Kahlúa.
The brief for the wordmark was to re-introduce Kahlúa’s “sense of playfulness” – something that had been lost in a recent update – while also rationalising the letter shapes within the available space to allow for “The Original” to be contained comfortably below.
The new, modified logotype is a more compact design, allowing for greater clarity and presence on-pack. The coffee bean is now removed as the accent on the U, the letterforms have been adjusted in height, weight and proportion and the taller K and leftward slant on the A’s help to re-assert Kahlúa original iconicity and brand character.
